About Us

Embracing Our Pearls of Wisdom, was founded in 2008, as a social engagement to honor the seniors/aging population.  In 2009, the organization was formed as a  nonprofit 501(c)3, community, faith-based social service organization, in honor of my mother, Ila Morris, who became terminally ill from complications of Diabetes. In 2010, after she made her transition, I became very passionate about serving the seniors in a greater way.

EOPOW sponsors annual Thanksgiving Day Dinners serving low-income residents living in Independent living facilities; we sponsor events and programs to honor and celebrate seniors who have made special contributions within their community; we are advocates for the senior community; form ongoing collaborative efforts with other nonprofits, community stakeholders and the D.C Office on Aging.  It is our goal to offer comprehensive, wrap-around, social service programs and referrals, tailored to fit the needs of adults ages 60 and over, who are aging in place in the community.  I've worked with Ward 8 and Ward 5 ADRC, Aging Services, Congress Heights Wellness Center, Victory Forest and Victory Towers in Silver Spring, MD and collaborated with other aging service providers within the District of Columbia. My vision to serve has expanded into developing various programs as a non-profit organization.
